This model is representative of the type of vehicle used by Lincolnshire Constabulary during the 1930’s.
The crest was introduced in the late 1930’s as a lapel badge for the Special Constabulary and it is believed to have been subsequently adopted by the Force and used on official headed note paper. It was not used on cap badges or helmet plates.
There was no Police Authority for the whole of Lincolnshire until 1967, when three separate Police Authorities for the parts of Lindsey, Kesteven and Holland, which make up the geographical county of Lincolnshire, were amalgamated together with Lincoln City and Grimsby Borough Police Authorities.
The crest comprises of designs taken from the crests of the constituent authorities, it is believed the belt signifies the encircling of the City of Lincoln by the County.
